Contesting Insurance Company’s Valuation of Your Loss Due to Water or Fire Damage

Over the years, we’ve been very successful helping Homeowners who have suffered a loss due to water damage or fire to encourage their Insurance Company into raising their always lowball Initial Valuations to Settle a loss.

While Insurance Companies advertise they will be there for you to make you “whole” in the event of a loss from water or fire, the truth is that they will instead, calculate your Settlement using the unrealistic Xactimate Program, which is programmed to low-ball labor and material prices which are not remotely related to the current prices charged by quality General Contractors, Sub-contractors & Suppliers in your area.

Insurance Companies will also tell you that your project requires only a few hours of Supervision per day (not true), and to then drag their feet while your housing allowance runs out and hope you will accept their low, low offer.

How Do We Help You To Receive A Higher Settlement?

We first create an “RCC Benchmark Detailed Estimate to Restore” which is broken down into cost columns breaking down of “Demo”, “Remediate”, “Restore”, and “Code Upgrade” Scope Columns, and then we create a linked Comparison Chart comparing our RCC numbers against the Insurance Company’s numbers per Trade & Task. We then use our Comparison Chart to show your Insurance Company where they are low or are missing scope (which is always the case).

And once you provide us with the Revised (read “Increased”) Offer from your Insurance Company, we’ll re-chart it, and show them once again where they are still low and are still missing scope, and where they are ignoring your right to have Code-Upgrades covered by them. We also incorporate cost to move, store & clean your furniture and belongings.

And while we can’t guarantee your Insurance Company will do the right thing, it’s been our experience that whatever you pay us in fees, you will receive back a Final Settlement from your Insurance Company that is many times higher because of our efforts.

As you can see by the following chart of our past projects, it really pays to hire us.
